On the move? In a hurry? Looking for an easy-to-make and tasty and nutritious lunchtime treat? Then, look no further than a Scottish smoked salmon sandwich or roll.
Such creations are incredibly convenient, butter the bread, a slice of Scottish smoked salmon, a twist of black pepper, and that’s it! But the sky is the limit when it comes to creativity and many great additions can come from typical kitchen store cupboard ingredients.
For example, a dollop of horseradish sauce, or a spoonful of beetroot chutney or crème fraiche all add extra flavour and complement Scottish smoked salmon so well. A classic combination is to spread some cream cheese onto your roll and sandwich and add a slice of Scottish smoked salmon on top.
Dill is a great accompaniment – mix some chopped dill into softened butter, spread on a sandwich slice or roll, add some Scottish smoked salmon, then place on top sliced cucumber and close the sandwich with another bread slice. Scottish smoked salmon is also great on a bagel – try cream cheese and smoked salmon, topped off with sliced red onions, capers and a sprinkling of fresh dill.
